CANDIDATE JIM SCHNELLER NOTES: ACCUSATIONS OF TEA PARTY "LEADERS" DO NOT SPEAK FOR THEIR MEMBERS
CANDIDATE JIM SCHNELLER OBSERVES TEA PARTY LEADERS SINKING TO THE SAME LEVEL AS THE GOP AND DEMOCRATS IN FOMENTING THE
BACKFIRED SIGNATURE-PETITION CONTROVERSY
CANDIDATE JIM SCHNELLER REMINDS PUBLIC THAT HE IS A FORMIDABLE OPPONENT WHO INTENDS TO WIN THIS DISTRICT
Jim Schneller, candidate for U.S. Representative for the 7th district of Pennsylvania, responded briefly Sunday, to allegations by two Philadelphia area Tea Parties that Jim Schneller declined their requests to withdraw from the race for U.S. Congress, for the stated reason that he would draw votes from the G.O.P. candidate and thus cost the district an alleged conservative political representative.
Jim Schneller, in the press release issued prior to this, dated August 5, 2010,
discusses the issues of the purported spoiler syndrome. Jim knows that both candidates stand to lose votes to him, and that this is why both parties are involved, and why both parties have taken the risk of exhibiting unbecoming behavior.
" Two of the eight-plus Philadelphia region tea parties have gone to the press with claims that they formally requested me to leave the race. In the very shortest version,
it is common knowledge that the Independence Hall Tea Party, mainly stages events rather than organizes grassroots activism, and is now a PAC, and these facts
have not seen light hereabouts.
Some members of the Delaware County Patriots Tea Party ( "Delco Patriots"), which is in some ways a grass roots effort, had sent me personal emails regarding "hurting" GOP hopeful Meehan, but they were not on a letter on letterhead. I answered them all, as I had the verbal comments of Mr. Adams of the Independence Hall Tea
Party a month and several months ago. I answered all of these in the constant state of mind
of questioning why leaders of tea party organizations were taking the time to belabor a point obviously moot from a sensible/third-party point of view, and why they were apparently doing so for the benefit of a GOP hopeful, where the GOP has been a substantial focus of objections of tea
parties nationwide, for the duration, second only to the Democrats.
I deduced that this boded well for my campaign, which must view any attempts to
remove me as originating in fear.
Foremost, I object to an overt lack of common decency, in these citizens' releasing news of my refusal of their request, where I did not even receive the request until Saturday, August 6, including no emailed version, which obviously would have been quite simple, and the postmark was the day or the day after the letter was released to the press. In accepted practice the actual demand must be declined - one should not dance lightly about the subject in conversation or informal emails and then release statements to the press claiming a letter had been presented. This is misrepresentation, and the sending of a letter, on the actual day of the press release
claiming prior receipt of such letter, is a strong indicator of bad policy and/or intent to deceive.
These citizens' acts of grandstanding came without any comprehensive look at the situation and are antithetical to, what I have experienced, is a tea party philosophy of knowing your facts and bowing to no political party enmeshed with the nation's current issues, which are great.
I perceive here many differences between righteous acts of political vigilance, and what are requests made by individual citizens portraying themselves as
rightfully risen or otherwise equitably placed, including: a) tea party members
are hard workers, and I believe that the members did not intend that these leaders, who are nominal by intent, brashly come out against a candidate having so many tea party values, especially so early in the race, and, in the Delco Patriots case, where the group has a stated no-endorse policy,
b) I spent many weeks last year this time, trying to intercept GOP infiltration of local (and some national) tea parties, and I at least got the word out
thoroughly. The GOP incessantly pecks away in their effort to dominate the tea parties, which is why I turned my energy towards running for office, so that my resources would go directly to the urgent national platform, and not be partially spent on the wrong battlefield.
c) Only seldom are any substantial letters issued to the press by either Tea Party regarding clear opponents like
Mssrs. Lentz, Brady, or Sestak. What does issue are constant reminders to members to protest here and protest there. Taking this into account with the fact that, since GOP infiltration began, no tea party has openly welcomed any independent candidate in our region, I have the impression this summer that the elite is
causing the tea parties to keep people busy protesting, so that they won't have time to work for real-value candidates like me.
All of this is so in conflict with what the tea party movement began as, that I, and citizens like me, are forced to witness the daily use of the movement, that we believed poised to work outside of either party, to be callously limited in it's scope, and used as if a different version, at the whim of an existing and detrimental party.
The releasing of the tea party letter is, regardless, an act questionable at best, is theatrics and little else, and is denigrating to bona fide tea parties statewide and nationwide. Worse, betrayal, defamation, and loss of time and resources are also clearly intended to me, again leading me to believe that the GOP
has acted in concert with the Democrats to orchestrate the scenario. It is agreed that this race is one of national importance, and it is agreed among the populace that I am running a strong equal, and am a threat to any front runner. The tea party "leaders" who claim they speak for their organizations have in essence fired at the forehead of a strong ally, in concert with an attempt by opposing candidates to defame and characterize, which backfired.
Because of my prior positive experiences with these tea parties, I limit this press release to the above and hope that we may remain co-opponents to the corrupt regime that holds America to be a sponge, from which
it may wring all freedom and liberty, at the expense of the happiness and security of the citizens and of the world. This regime is a direct threat.
Division, and fomented disagreement, are it's best weapons.
I remind the public that it is time that we all stopped beating a cynical,
conflict-centered drum. It is time that we stopped being divided, but rather acted as a nation interested in
cohesiveness and world prosperity. We must do so, our duty calls out for this, our national identity is blurred only because some in power have wrongly intended it so. You'll always get the truth here - and you'll always have a representative who votes with the district, not the machines !
